U10 – E9 Championships

Haverhill Valley Forum was the host site for the Elite 9 Girls Hockey League Final Four. The #2 seeded Boston Advantage Fighting Crabs jumped out to an early 1-0 as Maddie Manucci tallied up her first goal of the playoffs at the 9:25 mark of the first period.  The Golden Seals tried to rally back in the second period and created several key scoring opportunities, but Caroline Murray was solid between the pipes and held off the Seals to lead Advantage fighting Crabs to a 1-0 victory and a spot in the Sunday Finals against #1 seed Valley Jr. Warriors.

The Warriors followed up on a strong offensive performance Saturday and jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the Championship Game with 1 goal from Carlson and a pair of quick strikes by Norton in the opening period.  The Boston Advantage controlled the play throughout the second period and rallied back with a pair of goals just 40 seconds apart by Mallory Harold and Chloe Crabtree.  The Warriors answered back in the opening minutes of the third period as Reilly fed Davidson who banged it home to regain a 2-goal cushion with 12 minutes remaining. The Advantage fighting Crabs had an opportunity to rally back with a 5 on 3 powerplay in the final two minutes, but Hincliffe turned back the barrage as the Jr. Warriors captured the first E9 Girls League Championship.

U12 – E9 Championships

The first semi-final game between #1 Valley Jr. Warriors and #4 Boston Americans was a hard-fought defensive battle as the Warriors carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission on an unassisted goal by Roeder.  The Americans generated a couple opportunities early in the second period, but the Warriors took advantage of some odd man rushes as McTeague, Marsters and Petisce all found the back of the net to give the Warriors a berth to the Championship Game.

The Boston Advantage Fighting Crabs had a back and forth battle with 3rd seed Golden Seals, but jumped out to an early lead on goals from CC Flynn and Sawyer Merrill.  The Golden Seals rallied back in the closing minutes of the second period as Sienna Bracket set up Ella Bates who made it a 2-1 game.   The Fighting Crabs answered back with 2 quick strikes form Mary Murray and Hannah D’Angelo to seal the victory and a spot in the Championship Game.

The U12 E9 Final provided all the excitement and drama that was expected as the #9 team in the country Valley Jr. Warriors squared off against #2 seed Advantage Fighting Crabs.  The first and second period were very evenly played with both teams generating many scoring chances, but Kuczek and Hajjar stole the show between the pipes and kept the game at a 0-0 tie through the first two periods.  The game remained that way until the 12:50 mark of the third period when Abby Walles threw a puck on net that was re-directed and found its way to the back of the net to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead with just 2:10 remaining to play.  The Boston Advantage looked to rally back with their top line creating several opportunities, but the Warriors were able to take advantage of the aggressive play and caught the Advantage on an odd man rush and Brooke Harb banged home a Lauren Roeder rebound to make it a 2-0 game with 1:22 to play. The Advantage pulled Hajjar for an extra skater and created a couple of scoring opportunities, but Abbie Poole was able to add an open netter as the Valley Jr. Warriors skated on to capture the E9 Girls League Championship.
