This past weekend, Elite 9 member teams competed well at tournaments all over New England. Congratulations to the 2011 Boston Americans and the 2013 New Hampshire Avalanche on winning the CAN/AM youth challenge cup. The 2011 Boston Americans and 2013 NH Avalanche teams all traveled to Lake Placid, New York to compete against teams from all over the United States and Canada.  

The 2011 Boston Americans went 3-1 in the tournament, losing only the Elite 9 division rival, the New Hampshire Avalanche. The Americans fell to the NH Avalanche in Round Robin play, but they had the opportunity to play them again in the championship. The NH Avalanche are currently the top ranked team in the Elite 9 2011 standings. The Americans also defeated the Northstars Hockey Club and the Auroa Tigers on their way to the championship.
 
The 2013 NH Avalanche battled through some adversity to put themselves into the gold medal game on Sunday, and put on an impressive performance winning 4-1 against a tough Guelph, ON team which had only given up 2 goals in the first 3 games. The complete team effort was lead by a very stingy defensive effort along with some clutch goals.
