Congratulations to Boston College Freshman and Springfield Jr. Thunderbirds Alumni, Ryan Leonard, who has been named the Hockey East Rookie of the Month. After receiving Player of the Week honors just one week before, Leonard proves why he was selected as the 8th overall pick in the NHL draft this past year. 

Leonard scored at least one point in all eight games this last month. He recorded 11 points in the eight games for 8 goals and 3 assists. The month started strong for him as he rode a four-game goal streak. And he ramped it up at the end of the month with a two-goal performance in the each of last two games. Leonard finished the month with a plus-5 rating, 30 shots on goal, and a pair of game-winning goals.

The long-time Springfield Jr. Thunderbirds (formerly Springfield Rifles) alumni has recorded 10 goals and 7 assists for 17 points in 16 games.
